Linganamakki Dam is Karnataka's one of the major water barrier which is located at a distance of 6 KM from Jog Falls, Sagar taluk. The dam was constructed stretching across the Sharavathi river by Karnataka State Government in 1964. The Linganamakki Dam is at the height of 1819 feet above the sea level, and the dam is at the length of 2.4 KM which stores 4368 million cubic meters of water in an area around 300 km². The Linganamakki Dam is a major feeder place for the Mahatma Gandhi Hydro Electric Power unit. The dam has a power house with generating units which provides a power capacity of 55 MW which is driven by vertical axis Kaplan turbines. Linganamakki is a huge dam that is well-maintained, and the dam is surrounded by beautiful nature all side.
